Do Not Love This World
15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
How do you rank your priorities? How do you make a distinction between the good and the best?
A pretty common ranking for the believer goes something like this:
- God
- Family
- Career / Ministry
When you have died to self and your new life is hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3), He is our all; He has no competition; no comparative ranking is even appropriate. Rather, we should view every area of our lives through the lens of the lordship of Christ.
Is Christ Lord of my family … my job … my life in the Church?
