Live to Please God
9 But we don’t need to write to you about the importance of loving each other, for God himself has taught you to love one another. 10 Indeed, you already show your love for all the believers throughout Macedonia. Even so, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you to love them even more.
11 Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. 12 Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.
When you have love for fellow believers and live honorably (a quiet lifestyle, a hard worker, not a busy body), your life is one that is first and foremost, pleasing to God. Paul urges the Thessalonicans and us to live this way, more and more.
A secondary, but no less important benefit of this kind of lifestyle, is the example it sets for those who don’t yet know Jesus. When we follow His ways, when we let His light shine in us, non-believers will be attracted to Him. They will respect us for the way we live and desire that same lifestyle for themselves.
It has been said that the only Bible some will ever read is the life you live before them. Let God’s Word radiate from your every step.
