The Benefits of Wisdom

1 My child, listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.
2 Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.
3 Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding.
4 Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures.


The words of Scripture contain valuable lessons … lessons so valuable that finding them is compared to benefits of mining for silver. Finding an ample supply of this precious metal can financially secure the days of your life. Finding the hidden treasures within the Word of God can spiritually secure your eternity.

Mining is hard work. Tremendous effort is part of the mining process. Likewise, to find the wisdom deposited in the Scriptures takes some digging. Note the action words … listen … concentrate … cry out … ask … search … seek.

Spend time each day mining the treasure of God’s Word. His precious wisdom is worth digging for.
