RIGHT STANDING

Romans 5:18-21

Adam and Christ Contrasted

18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. 21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Isaiah said it first (Isaiah 45:23). The Apostle Paul quoted it twice (Romans 14:11, Philippians 2:10). “…every knee shall bow…” The Lord has declared that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord. There will be those who bow voluntarily and those who are forced to there knees. Only those with right standing with God will gladly bow before His Son. But surely, even those trapped in Adam’s condemnation, will one day have to acknowledge the lordship of Christ.

I don’t know about you but I would much rather enjoy the moment. How about you? Ensure your right standing today. Go ahead and confess Jesus as your Lord.

PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for a friend and co-worker of mine. Brad Cliburn has had a reoccurrence of throat cancer and is facing difficult treatments. He will be going to M.D. Anderson in the near future. Pray also for his wife, Carla, and their teenage son, Cody. I praise God that Brad knows who the is Lord and that God is Jehovah-rapha, our healer.
