GOD HATES ALL SIN

There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Proverbs 6:16-19

The word ‘detestable’ in verse 16 is translated ‘abomination’ in the King James Version. God is clear and precise on what sin is and how He feels about it. I did a word search on the word ‘abomination’ and it appears 135 times in the Old Testament and 6 times in the New Testament. In addition to detestable it also translates as shameful or deceitful and describes those things which God hates.

To take a quote from Today’s Devotion, Oswald Chambers nails it in describing God’s hatred of sin. He says, “Jesus Christ hates the sin in people, and Calvary is the measure of His hatred.”

How much does God hate sin? Look at the Cross.
