OT LAW ... NT TRUTH

Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

1st Corinthians 6:18-20

Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people.

Leviticus 18:29

In the Old Testament book of Law, Leviticus, we find a long list of practices which God says are detestable. In Leviticus 18, Moses records the immoral sexual practices which are an abomination to God.

As New Testament believers, the Christian needs to not make light of the severity of these practices because of there effect on “the temple of the Holy Spirit.” Surely none of these practices are beyond the grace of our LORD or more powerful than His shed blood to cleanse. That is, however, not an excuse to continue these “detestable things.” The Christian and the Church must be ready to embrace the sinner with the love of Jesus Christ without losing hold of the truth of the entire canon of God’s Word.
