THE LORD HAS RISEN

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.”

Christ has risen.

I am told if you count the number of witnesses noted in the Scriptures who had personal contact with the risen Lord, you would find about five hundred. For the two disciples whom Jesus communed with on the Emmaus Road, He was revealed to them as they shared the broken bread. Their hearts were set on fire as Jesus spoke to them, about himself, from the Scriptures. He opened their eyes to the truth of the Old Testament prophesies which Jesus alone fulfilled.

The Scriptures not only reveal who Jesus is, they reveal what He has done. God sent His Son to die for the sin of the world and raised Him from the dead with victory over death, hell and the grave.

Christ has risen indeed!
