DON'T GET DISCOURAGED

O Israel, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles? How can you say God refuses to hear your case? Have you never heard or understood? Don’t you know that the LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:27-31

When disappointment after disappointment come, it is easy to get discouraged. When trouble just hangs around your door, discouragement can take a foothold. When your enemy seems to succeed while you have no success, getting discouraged can be tempting. When God is silent and you need an answer from the LORD, how do avoid becoming discouraged?

The answer lies in God’s Word. Over and over the psalmist cried out to the LORD, “How long, O LORD?” The psalmist always found relief in their faith. “When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” The psalmist knew who he could trust. “But the LORD is my fortress; my God is a mighty rock where I can hide.” (Psalm 94:3, 19, 22)

When you feel discouraged … feel like giving up “… wait on the LORD…”!
