TERROR, ASTONISHMENT OR COMFORT

He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. About three o’clock in the morning he came to them, walking on the water. He started to go past them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they screamed in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “It’s all right,” he said. “I am here! Don’t be afraid.” Then he climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. They were astonished at what they saw.

Mark 6:48-51

The reaction of the disciples, when they observed Jesus, coming to them walking on the water, was first terror and finally astonishment. Jesus saw they were in trouble and was coming to their aid. Because He came in a way that was out of the ordinary, supernatural, it frightened them. Jesus spoke to them saying, “It’s all right. I am here! Don’t be afraid.”

How do you respond when Jesus shows up in your circumstances? Are you frightened, astonished or comforted? Jesus’ presence in your situation is always for your good. Welcome Him and receive His comfort.

The presence of the Lord is here,
The presence of the Lord is here.
I can feel Him in the atmosphere.
The presence of the Lord, the presence of the Lord,
The presence of the Lord … is here.
