For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are. Nothing in all creation can hide from him. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes. This is the God to whom we must explain all that we have done.

God’s Word, when either read or heard through preaching and teaching, can penetrate through our layers of cover-up right to the core issues. We may be able to keep things hidden from friends or loved ones but God is able to expose what is really going on within us.
God has a two-fold purpose behind the penetrating power of His Word. It is the issue of love and hate. He hates any sin within us while He loves us unconditionally. His Word, which is ‘sharper than a two-edged sword’ works to cut out that which is harmful … that which destroys. That same Word is able to lovingly repair, mend, and restore us to His intended condition.
