The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

As we listen to the news or read the newspaper, there is no question about the continued increase of sin in the world today. I have heard it said, “That which is done in moderation in one generation is done in excess in the next.” Consider a couple examples. Living together outside marriage is a common practice today. In past generations, when it was done, it was done in secret. Now it is done openly and announced proudly. The same can be said for homosexuality, promiscuity and Satanic worship.
Be not discouraged. Scripture reminds us that “…where sin increased, graced increased all the more…” How great are the opportunities for grace to reign! None of this that we see all around us is greater than the reach and the power of God’s grace. It is up to the believer to share God’s love wherever and whenever we see sin abounding. It is another opportunity for grace to reign.
